Name: Doctor Charles Metallic.
Age: 36 Years Old.
Gender: Male.
Inventory: Heavy plasma rifle, rifle repair kit, laser pistol, laser rounds (24), combat knife, fusion grenade (1).
Powers: Literally none.
Clothing: Camouflauge military-esque uniform. Task-force style gloves. Shin-high black leather boots. Backpack carrying various things. Camouflage pants. All camouflague is in woodlands style.

Example Post:
The hedgehog glanced side to side... it was quiet, way too quiet. Alone in the dark alley, he was on edge, plasma pistol high, aiming around every single corner he turned... a quick check of the magazine showed it was full. That was good... the war veteran narrowed his eyes, ready for anything to come his way...

Being alone could drive people mad. It would reduce people to a shell of themselves and bring up mass hysteria in a lot of people. Not this hedgehog, though. After being a soldier for a solid twenty-three years, Metallic was far from being phazed.

Finally the hedgehog nodded to himself. "I guess it's all clear for now." He quickly slipped the plasma pistol into the safety holder, and took a deep breath, sighing quietly.

It was going to be a loooong day.

Chapter One - First Contact
Station Square, the city of beauty, a popular place to be, recently rebuilt and flourishing more than it ever was before. A very popular destination indeed.
Streets always busy, and life happening normally.

The only thing that was wrong was the fact that people had facemasks on. Plastic ones, similar to those that surgeons would wear. At first glance it would be odd. Ridiculous... But there was a reason behind it all. A very good reason. Extreme measures were being took when it came to a special disease believed to be carried by air.

A horrible disease at that. Something that would make you very ill in a few days. A very contagious, dangerous one indeed... It makes you vomit, it makes you feel faint... in some cases it even kills, apparently.

Which only arises the question. Why not leave, and avoid the risk altogether? The issue with that, is the fact that the city had been closed off. Completely. The entirity of the outside borders were sealed off, and unpassable. The poor souls inside of the city were trapped inside, to try and keep the virus "at bay"...

You are one of those unlucky sods. So far you haven't contracted the virus, nor came into contact with anyone who has it. You could be considered lucky, actually.

According to the government, the disease rarely kills people, and it travels through air. Wearing a facemask is apparently highly recommended.

Can you avoid being infected?

CHAPTER 1 - THE DAWN OF THE APOCALYPSE

Day 4 since virus quarrantine
14:21 hours
Station Square

Cold. Oh how it was so cold, so eerie within the large city of Station Square. Despite the people wandering the streets, every single one of them was wearing a facemask as advised by the government to avoid the air form of the disease that was spreading.

The entire  city was in quarrantine; keeping the virus at bay. Everyone inside wasn't allowed out. Everyone outside could only watch inside of the city.

Needless to say of course, the city had a large block around it, but it was not completely blocked. That is if you count a good thousand of well trained military personels with heavy rifles and anti-air cannons as not completely blocked off.

The streets were full of bypassers, all doing their daily lives on edge, trying to avoid the virus as best as they could, wandering past people that even seemed to be... dropping onto the floor, dead.

Among the large crowds was a hedgehog, fur grey, slightly beige tinted (very slightly) in colour. He wore the typical kind of uniform you'd see some of the City of Independence military wearing if they weren't in their combat power-suits. He wandered the streets, quite heavily armed actually. Typical for his luck, he was exploring the city when the entire quarrantine became a thing. He wasn't as equipped as he would like, either, his armor would've been a very nice thing because AIRLOCK.

He too had a facemask on, just to set an example and partially because he truly believed the virus spread through the air, which it almost certainly did.

Noticing the people dropping dead around him, even though they too had facemasks on, made him extremely uneasy. But the government persisted.

Dear citizens of Station Square...
It is with my sincere apologies, whether you're just visiting or are a long term resident, that you are hereby to stay within the city borders.

Any attempts to leave the city will be dealt with force. You are to remain within the city until further notice due to the virus threat.

So long as you follow our instructions, you will be perfectly safe. The virus is rarely ever fatal, though the risk is there, hence the need for you to be held in the city limits. Scientists are working on a cure as this message is being broadcasted, so I ask you to hang in there, and don't lose hope.

The veteran soldier, the hedgehog, stopped on the spot, looking towards some of the people seemingly just dropping dead on the spot... and deeply sighed. He headed towards the café, opening the doors. It had been abandoned, but there were still snacks and goodies left in the boxes and refridgirators, so it made a nice place to raid from.

How it hadn't been completely torn down was a mystery, actually.

The hedgehog wandered to one of the fridges, took out a can of soda and headed over to a set of tables and chairs, took a seat on one of the chairs in question, all the while taking off his backpack and placing it under the table in front of him, before leaning forward and putting his head into his hands. "God help us all, we're fucked." He muttered quietly to himself.

[Remake] Outbreak: Station Square Empty Re: [Remake] Outbreak: Station Square

Post by Spekkal Sat Oct 11, 2014 2:24 pm

((Copy-pasting my post from the old thread for the sake of convenience))

Having a mask under a mask was an unusual thing. For this person didn't want to risk the disease - even she didn't know if she were capable of catching it or not and it was better to be safe than sorry, especially under such dire consequences. It was absolutely terrifying how much it had spread so quickly and so... well, secretly, like it had exploded within the shadows and contaminated those who walked under its dark blanket. There were many wandering the streets who were terribly ill, and it was chilling and outright heart-stopping when occasionally a poor person would just outright drop dead onto the pavement, when a few seconds later they were stumbling about clumsily. The Goddess probably could have saved their soul. Could have stopped this. Could have joined them unto unity to sing in the Choir of Salvation like they rightfully should. A light hiss escaped an individual's lips as they shook their head. No.

They're free to make their own decisions, after all.

Standing on a metal staircase, a fire exit for emergencies upon the side of a building within an alleyway, was a red-robed figure, watching the streets from the crack of light within the shadows. Clawed, skinned feet curled on the bumped grating as a gloved hand moved to grasp the railing to the side, the staircase leading down before them in a zigzag-like fashion which they glanced over, before examining the streets once more with hidden eyes under that uncomfortable mask. They were completely covered, the gender was impossible to tell other than the slightest sign of two lumps of flesh on the chest which caused the red robe to go out a little.

They considered going out into the streets. But what would that do? Leaving was... a terrifying idea. There were dangers which caused her to hesitate away from the 'outside' world of Station Square. Did they know? Did She? It was a risk this fruit bat was not willing to take, and even this diseased dead-infested settlement was better than the possibility of being torn to pieces and being replaced.

It was best to just bide time.

[Remake] Outbreak: Station Square Empty Re: [Remake] Outbreak: Station Square

Post by Funkydude527 Sat Oct 11, 2014 11:53 pm

A SWATbot stomed imto the abandoned cafe with a crash. The top hing of the dorr, rusted from frequent use and little repair gave out, and blew off with a clatter. The intimidating red visor of the mechanical monstrosity swiveled to face the recently arrived hedgehog. Thre was a brief pause in the air, as the absurd, if frighteningly present ghosts of the First Robotnik War silently howled.

Then, a metallic finger raised and pointed at the hedgehog with a hydralic hiss. There was a breif moment where it seemed as if the hounds were to be siced on this unwitting passerby. Then, in it's mechanical, slipshot voice, the SWATbot said "Military personnel. You are to guard this research station. You are to collect infected cadavers. This is imperative. In return I shall assist in your feeble, futile attempt to maintain homeostasis."

Without so much as a hello, the SWATbot strided towards the counter and began clearing it with indiscrimanite mechanical efficency. The ransacked items flew as his metal arms swept across it. The large, green cross on his back indicated this SWATbot was.... medical?

((@Funkydude527, please add the "INVENTORY" section at the end of your posts.))

Tick and tock. Time passed. The hedgehog remained sitting in that position for a little while, before slowly dragging his hands down his face, and looking up around the room he was in.

Dimly lit, the light bulbs looked on the blink. A bit of dust here and there. The shop, despite how long the infection had been a risk, was in a very bad state. A few chairs had been turned over and broken, tables had lost one or two legs save for the table the hedgehog was on. In general, the café was a depressing location, a shadow of it's former self.

The hedgehog was about to take a sip from his can of soda, until suddenly the door came flying open and all that. Metallic's prime reaction was to throw the soda can to the side, unholster his laser pistol immediately, and point it dead-on at the intruder's head, quickly turning his head towards them with a suddenly highly aggressive, focused glare. After a few moments, he raised an eyebrow, before standing up slowly, the rubber of the bottom of his boots slowly sliding across the smooth wooden floorboards. He gave the robot a once over, before...

"This isn't a research station, it's a café, and you're a machine. Give me one good reason I should listen to you when this deadly virus is looming around outside." He demanded, keeping the laser pistol pointed directly at the robot, finger on the trigger, stepping carefully to the side as the robot marched towards the counter and began sweeping it across violently.

He saw the cross, and very hesitantly lowered the pistol. Lowered. Not holstered.

"So you're a medbot, huh? You're not doing that much of a good job, you're breaking more than you fix." The hedgehog stated plainly, the dim light of the room giving his eyes a very deep, lit up look. He shifted to the side, walking over to the soda can he threw seconds ago, and picked it up, keeping his eyes fixed on the robot intruder. "You even made me spill my soda, no introductions, nothing. Identify." He commanded while scanning the aliminium can with his dull, green eyes. Noticing a bit of dirt on the opening, he narrowed his eyes slightly, and used the thumb of the hand that held the pistol in it to wipe it off, before taking a careful sip.

Maaaybe I shouldn't drink this. He thought to himself, quickly lobbing it into one of the trash cans and simply getting another from the same fridge. Rather than drink it there and then, however, he simply went over to the table, picked up his backpack, opened it, and put the can of soda inside for later use, before closing the backpack and sliging it onto his back, all the while keeping the laser pistol ready and his eyes on the robot.

Post by Spekkal Mon Oct 20, 2014 1:58 pm

The sudden sound of crashing and the distinctive robot voice made the fruit bat's ears twitch backwards. What in the world was that? It was to the store beside her - were they having trouble? With this lockdown, she wondered if things were already going out of control. Well, that was obvious with the struggling people trying to stay alive, but it was more... would riots start? Would they be that foolish? They would, and that was why the scarlet bat leapt from the stairs and landed gracefully into the alleyway, veiled wings raised to slow her descent. Her bare feet dug into the dirt as she walked towards the store, peeping her head out of the corner before finally settling her masked eye into the window. A hedgehog and a robot. Huh.

The covered mobian walked through the forced-open door and glanced around, raising her hands high to show she was not, in fact, a threat to either of them. Honestly, she only hoped they didn't know her. "Iss there a problem?" she asked, her voice slightly muffled by the fabric covering her lips. Her voice was... chilling. It was obvious she was trying her best to keep it contained, but the hisses and the snarls that occasionally leaked through her speech were blatant. It didn't exactly fit her either - a rather deep voice, and honestly you'd probably mistake them for a man with such a covered body.

At the command 'identify', the head of the robot spinned and faced the hedgehog. The icy stare seemed more apathetic than anything. Humorously, the body continued it's indiscriminate work. "Medical Robot Three Four, Research Variant. Accessing records." There is a pause, and the sound of whirring processors as the brutally aging robot recalls data.

"Doctor Charles Metallic. Male. Hedgehog. Thirty-Four. Unpowered. Immunoviability coefficient Sixty-Two. You are an acceptable research assistant." The body, satisfied with the completion of its work, swiveled under the head. The right arm of the bot shifted, and gave way to a syringe. "I strongly encourage you to donate precious bodily fluids."

At this moment, the fruit-bat entered. The robot scarcely regarded her, barring the head twist. "Unidentified Mobian, please state name and medical history."

[Remake] Outbreak: Station Square Empty Re: [Remake] Outbreak: Station Square

Post by Caliburn Wed Oct 22, 2014 1:41 pm

((Remember the inventory section. Also, Ruby, you're accepted~ However, only allowing four foodpacks. Everything else is fine. Post after Funkydude's NEXT post. In other words after the next cycle.))

The pistol was still firmly in the hedgehog's hand. He narrowed his eyes very intently on the robot before him. "Research variant, eh...? You're not all that up-to-date from what I can see." He commented, before immediately whirling around and pointing the pistol towards the masked individual with deadly accuracy.

However he kept it ready, not actually firing. "Oooother than the fact the city's gone to hell, I'm dealing with a faulty medical robot. This thing here. That's all." Gesturing for a spiltsecond to the robot to his left to show what he meant, he finally decided to holster the pistol, it going straight into the holster with speed. "Don't worry, lower your hands. Aaand do whatever this here bot says."

Turning around and taking not even one step back from the robot, the hedgehog simply had an eye on the syringe, before looking up again. "So... you're almost definitely a City of Independence model bot... otherwise you'd not be able to know who I am. At all." Folding his arms, Metallic grinned slightly, before retreating back to his table, sitting down onto one of the chairs, kicking his feet back up onto the table, putting his arms behind his head all casually.

"And if that's the case, apparently the city's losing it's touch with machinery, then. What brilliant timing for that, while most of the people here are just waiting to be infected." He commented snarkily, before finally responding to the initial command, or more like suggestion, from the robot.

He rolled his eyes, before keeping focused on the syringe. "And before you come near me with that thing, I want to see how clean it is." He demanded, before removing his feet from the table, the boots sliding across the rough, wooden surface and immediately slapping down onto the floor, the hedgehog sitting up straight once again. "Also, I want a definition of what you mean by 'bodily fluids'. I assume you mean blood."

[Remake] Outbreak: Station Square Empty Re: [Remake] Outbreak: Station Square

Well the gun-to-face thing wasn't a pleasant thing to be faced with in the slightest. She expected something, but the robot and the hedgehog with the weapon in her direction wasn't on the list of 'what to expect in this city'. She gradually lowered her hands, and it was obvious that she didn't have anything on her possession to make her a threat at first glance. Adjusting the mask on her face, she slowly pulled up a chair and sat down.

"Um... I'm... Celene," she stated, but paused to herself to make sure that was the correct name she gave herself, "I'm... a visitor. And I got caught up in this, um, messs." The 'medical history' part she wasn't entirely sure about. She'd never needed to give that - she didn't even know it herself! The bat continued talking, though she did her best to avoid answering that inquiry with official information, "I'm not ill sso that's ssomething, right? I mean I feel normal, sso I guesss that meanss I'm clean?" Her speech was muffled, and it wouldn't take much knowledge to know it was due to a medical mask behind the mask.

She sighed. This whole issue was... actually quite terrifying. But she would rather deal with this than the possibility of dealing what awaited outside this city for her - Her Benevolence. A shiver, "Do you mind if I sstay here with you? I don't really want to be by mysself in thesse timess."

The Robot whirred, proverbial smoke pluming out of its aging processor. "Operational history classified. My medical research programs are up to date." There was a slight click-whirr as it's head turned to face the bat. "However, Hippocratic programs are degraded."

The head then swiveled back to the hedgehog. "I require your blood plasma for research. You have a high immunoviability rating, and are significantly less likely to be infected when exposed to-"

A pause. The disk processor noise from inside the robot clicked faster and faster, whirring up to a painful drone. The robot froze, and began to say:

"wrrrrrrrrrARRRRRWEP-WEP-WEP-WEP-WEP-WEP-WEP-PRAH-PRAH-PRAH-PRAH-PRAH-" It broke into a bianary, fax machine style tone. Then, inexplicably, the robot turned off for a second or two before humming to life once more, it's eyes blue instead of red. "Internal errors detected.
