dodgy ads?! Empty dodgy ads?!

Post by The Red Blur Fri Jun 03, 2016 11:03 am

Hey all, didn't know whether to put this into "the forum", or "help". Feel free to move it if it's in the wrong place. Just a little issue, but I've been getting some dodgy ads here. Some saying "Claim this prize immediately" and stuff of that ilk, but I got a pop-up today saying this:

dodgy ads?! 93065wp_ss_20160603_0002

This obviously worries me, as I question how safe this site is with these sort of ads. Just lettin' y'all know

Thanks for reading

Fear that is an issue we can't do anything about as it has to do with forum motion itself.
I would advice to just get ad block and block the ads on this site!

Out of curiosity, are you getting these ads normally, or are you getting them on your phone? The screenshot above would make me assume you're getting them on your phone...
I've personally not encountered any such ads here computer or phone. As such, there's a good chance it may not be the forum itself, rather, potentially some adware that's found it's way onto your device.

Dreagen may be right. There is an app that destroys viruses automatically. I think it may only  be on android.  But just search up automatic virus killer on youtube.

I encountered similar ads on my computer, but if it's out of your hands, then I ain't knocking you for it.

Thanks for the help, though.

what do you mean? As in, you have a lot, or they could potentially cause a lot of damage?

I think they more mean 'phones are full of ad's' - because I know I get the same sort of things, if I use my phone on this site. Or any website, if i'm honest.
They're not even all dangerous, there's simply just a lot of them on phones - or perhaps it's the same amount, and the smaller screen just makes it seem like a lot more.
