In the Middle of Summer

"Maybe that general direction, but we can make a couple of different turns instead of staying beachside," Reena replied.

Wolf nods slightly.

"Alright. So, should we get ready to head out or do you want to wait for a while?" he asks.

"Well, there's not much else to do here except watch tv," Reena replied, "We could get going for now and see what we find."

Wolf nods to her.

"Sounds good." he says.

He pushes up from the bed.

"I'll just go use the bathroom first and then I'll be ready to go." he adds, before he starts walking over to towards it.

Reena nodded in return. "Alrighty, I'll grab my shoes and stuff," she replied, also hopping off of the bed and standing up. She glanced around for where she'd kicked off her shoes, then moved over to pull them on.

Several minutes later, Wolf emerges from the bathroom again. He glances over towards Reena.

"Ready?" he asks.

Reena returned the look from where she was already standing by the door, her camera around her neck and her cell phone in one paw. She gave a nod in reply.

"Yep!"

The Klee Kai opened the door, holding it open as she started to step outside.

Wolf follows Reena outside and closes the door behind them. After that, he follows Reena along as she leads the way towards the dining establishment she prefers this evening.

Reena didn't offer much conversation as they made their way back in the direction they'd gone for lunch earlier. As they reached the boardwalk, she elected to turn off away from the beach-front area and head deeper into the smaller streets and walkways of the town, taking note of shops and restaurants they passed along the way.

The Klee Kai pointed out some places that caught her interest, making sure that Wolf also knew to tell her if he saw something that caught his eye as well.

As they walk, Wolf points out a couple of seafood restaurants as they make their way along. After the food they had earlier, he was looking forward to having some more fish or something similar, but maybe not fried like what they'd had before.

The two canines had plenty of time to wander and explore through the area. Reena made sure to take note of where the restaurants that interested them most were located, occasionally using her phone to mark the place if she wasn't sure she would remember. They spent a good fifteen minutes or so just looking around before considering their options and then heading back to the seafood restaurant they decided on.

Once they arrived and had been seated, a waitress took their drink orders and left them to look over the menu. As she'd been craving one earlier, Reena made sure to request a piña colada. Once the waitress had gone, she looked to Wolf.

"So maybe you can try a sip of my drink when it gets here," she said. There was a pause as her ears perked up a bit. "...How old are you anyway?" she asked, "Are you legal yet?"

Wolf accompanied Reena into the restaurant and took his seat across the table from her. As he had earlier, he orders a glass of water to go with his meal. He then glances towards Reena when she draws his attention with her questions.

"How old?" he repeats, "Hmmm... I think this is my... seventeenth summer. I'm not entirely sure. The weather isn't always consistent in the places I've been, so it can be hard to know for sure how long it has been."

He then regards her quizzically.

"And what do you mean 'legal'?" he asks.

"Well, there are some things you have to be a certain age to be able to do legally," Reena replied, "Like, you're supposed to be 18 to buy alcohol."

"But awww, you're just barely seventeen?" the dog cooed, "I didn't know you were so much younger than me! I'm nineteen!"

"Oh, okay. I wasn't aware of those kinds of rules." he replies.

He then tilts is head slightly as Reena reacts to his age.

"So, you're two years older... I figured that you would be my age or younger." he says, "I guess you can't assume that based on appearance."

Reena's smile widened.

"Yeah, everyone thinks I'm younger than I am, but it's just because I'm so small and cute!"

"Of course." Wolf replies.

He wasn't really sure what else to say after that so the silence lingers for a while, and he glances around the restaurant.

Reena gave him a bit of a glance at the dismissive response he gave, but didn't say anything otherwise. Instead, she lowered her gaze back to the menu.

"So, see anything you wanna eat yet?" she asked.

Wolf glances down at the menu in front of him.

"Hmmm... well... a lot of this looks good." he admits, "I don't think I'd mind trying any of it."

"Well, that's the tough part," Reena admitted, "You have to pick just one. I'm having a hard time picking, too. Maybe one of these grilled fish, though..."

"Maybe we should pick out a couple of items and then share them." Wolf suggests, as he glances over at Reena.

"Yeah, maybe we could pick out a couple of combo platters and go from there," Reena agreed with a nod. She pointed to where some of the items she was talking about were on the menu. "Like these here, maybe?"

Wolf glances at her menu to see what she's indicating, then he looks at the same place on his menu to get a better look at them. He then nods slightly.

"Yeah. Those might be good choices." he replies.

"So we'll have a look at those and see which one to get for each of us, then," Reena said, returning her attention to the menu.

She would continue to discuss the available options with Wolf until they'd reached a decision. Not too long after, the waitress returned with their drinks, setting down a tall white drink with a decorative little pink umbrella in it in front of the Klee Kai and a glass of ice water in front of her wolf companion. She asked if they were about ready to order, which Reena confirmed with Wolf. Reena asked for an appetizer of raw oysters, then also asked for her meal as well before letting Wolf do the same for whatever he wanted.

The waitress scribbled down the orders quickly before excusing herself and heading off again.

"Hoohoo, been cravin' this since my snowcone got waterlogged," Reena grinned as she slid her drink closer to herself and took a sip through the straw.

Wolf ordered a shrimp and sushi platter, as he'd be able to share that with Reena. He watches as Reena samples her drink.

"Really?" he asks, "Been wanting that since the that storm earlier?"

Reena glanced over.

"Well, not the whooole time," she admitted, "But my snowcone was this flavor too and I didn't even get to finish it."

She nudged the glass towards him, adding, "Try some!"
