Machina - the High-Tech Secret Society Empty Machina - the High-Tech Secret Society

Machina is a secretive group formed around the idea of machine supremacy and the extermination or mechanization of organic life.  The leaders and highest-ranking members of this organization are not known to the general public, but have been speculated to be the heads of major tech corporations, world leaders, and other wealthy and influential "elites."  Some have even speculated that the group is headed by actual robots or even aliens.

Despite wishing to rule the world with technology like the Eggman Empire, Machina uses much more covert tactics to achieve its goals.  These include influencing the policies of governing bodies across the globe, placing their operatives in positions of power, exploiting acts of terrorism to push their ideals, and placing "back doors" into consumer products.  Many believe that, as time progresses, they will employ more overt operations to achieve their goals, such as building and deploying their own robot armies

Machina recruits new human and Mobian members through the philosophy of Transhumanism/Transmobianism, which teaches that humans and Mobians can evolve by merging themselves with machines or even uploading their minds into them and abandoning their organic forms.  Robotic operatives may be recruited through theft and reprogramming, but may also be built in Machina-controlled facilities.

Those who believe in the existence of Machina claim that it will eventually prove to be an even bigger threat to the world than the Eggman Empire and may even co-opt it.

A lot of inspiration for this group does come from New World Order conspiracy theories.

Ah I see, that makes sense. That's actually pretty cool; it makes them seem more realistic than Eggman's army—probably even more dangerous. I like it!
