Settling Down
The message this week is "All's quiet on the home front." As noted last week, many noted citizens of the area are going out on adventures with others. Due to this, there has been a silence in large part. Some call it par for the course, some worry that those who go out may choose never to return. Still others voice concern over the possibility of a 'calm before the storm', such as also noted last week. Although the future is not ours to see, one point is certain: the pace of life is slowing down and stabilizing. Whether this will help or hurt the world in the long term remains to be seen.
Interview with Kai the Hedgehog
Interview by SST Editor Quiet Light
Quiet Light: Greetings, readers. This is Quiet Light, coming to you from the Station Square Times, and today our interviewee is long-time SRN member Kai the Hedgehog. How are you, Kai?
Kai the Hedgehog: Pretty good, thanks.
Light: So, from my understanding, you have time to pop in every so often and not too many know you very well. Is this accurate, and if so, what sorts of things distinguish you from the rest of SRN?
Kai: Well, I'd be pretty freaked out if people from here knew me well. I'm not one to divulge things about me so easily. I like the illusiveness. Anyway, what sort of things distinguish me from the rest of SRN? Hmmm...well, for one, I'll tell you straight. I'm not one to mince words so to speak.
Light: Fairly straightforward just in speaking, or also in general?
Kai: Mmmm...both.
Light: Does that cross over into RPing?
Kai: Yes. Very much so, if, in the blue moon that appears rarely, I roleplay.
Light: Are you not very interested in RP, or don't have the time, or maybe both?
Kai: I used to love it a lot, but I've started to become less and less interested.
Light: Interesting. Do you think that can and probably will happen to anyone?
Kai: Absolutely. Nothing lasts forever. Or maybe I'm just being cynical.
Light: Perhaps. Could it happen to an entire RP community?
Kai: Who knows? No one can see what happens in the future. I'd like to think no. After all, people need an outlet sometimes and sometimes, that outlet is to create an internet self. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9PYIwPSaj4 - this advert pretty much sums it up...minus the free wifi. And for some of us...the digital version is our characters that we portray on sites such as SRN. So in answer to that question, I'd like to think no.
Light: Fair enough. Good to hear some hope, since SRN has been somewhat quiet recently.
Kai: Indeed it has.
Light: Any expectations for the future?
Kai: I must admit, without sounding morbid...it's not looking bright.
Light: But you do keep hope?
Kai: Sure I do. I hope things do work out, but it's not looking bright as it stands, not just on SRN, but on RPing communities on a global scale.
Light: Hmm. Well, before we go off on a depressing tangent - how have you seen the community change over time?
Kai: Yes, I have. Not sure if it's for better or for worse as of yet.
Strike: Anything specific that stands out, though?
Kai: Many things, but I'd rather not say if I'm honest. All I can say is it's nice to see new members around.
Light: On behalf of the readers, I'd like to know what's on your mind, though I certainly won't press the matter if you'd rather not say.
Kai: Well I'm afraid the readers will have to read into my statement as they wish. Like I said, on a positive note; it's nice to see new members around.
Light: Very well, then. Any words of advice to the whole forum?
Kai: Any words for the forum...hmm...uhmm...yeah, this interview was brought to you by the word 'optimism'. Sorry, I could only think of one word.
Light: I...suppose that's fairly good advice, yes. Any final words for the readers before we finish?
Kai: Yes. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. But today is a gift...that's why it's called the present. Cherish it. Becuase if you break it, there's no receipt for it.
Light: Sounds good to remember. Thanks for being with us.
Kai: No worries. Namaste.
Light: Which is...?
Kai: A greeting/farewell which is said when giving a Namaskar.
Light: ...okay. Fare well, then.

Introductions & Birthdays
This section notes any users who have recently entered and written introduction threads within the past week.
Unfortunately, right now there aren't any. Be sure to spread the word about SRN!
Also, this past week we celebrated the birthdays of adventuretimefreak, Hypno's Lullaby, Melk, Shadow8, Sonic.EXE, SurgainTheHedgehog, and xX_Anguish_Xx; and this coming week, we'll celebrate the birthdays of Electrisa and TheArcGuardian. Wish them a happy birthday if you see them around!
