Primal Hunger

"You saved all of Mobuis and made sure those creatures won't attack anyone again. You are a hero Kory". She pats her shoulder gently. "Rest easy".

"A-alright.. But... Do you kk-now what happened to Zero..? Is he ok..?"

Sonic expressed worry through his eyes as he didn't know what to respond.

"It's best to not know right now...He's alive though...I'm going to get you some water".

She goes silent as her expression seems saddened from hearing that.

".. You really do care about him don't you?"

Kory slowly nodded at him, looking down.

"I understand.. Don't worry, i promise he won't get killed."
He smiled at her, and she slightly smiled at him.

Rogue returns with a cup of water. "I'm going to give this to you slowly ok?"

"O-okay."
Kory replied as she looked at Rouge with a calm smile.

Rogue slowly gives her some water in small amounts.

She slowly drinks it, and when she was done, she tried to get up by herself and sat on the bed. She looked around and then looked back at them.

"How long have i been here for?"

"About 2 weeks. Quite a lightshow from the reports Ive read. What do you remember"?

"U-uhm... Breaking Achorus' neck and seeing everything around me go grey.. It was raining.. That's it."
She's a bit confused about her memories.

"Well it all happened! Can confirm that."
Sonic replied.

"You saved the world Kory. Be proud of yourself".

She smiled, even if she didn't know how to actually feel. She looked at her legs, and tried to move them.. A little shaky, but she could move them. Sonic helped get out of her bed and took the plasma injector out of her arm. She stood on her own and thought for a moment..

"How is the world now? Ah mean.. How are the others?"

"We buried the dead and honored our friends. Everyone is trying to live normally but we lost so much. It's a struggle but we will do our best to continue".

She looks down for a moment.

"It's.. Hard to believe this all happened. I can't even believe i'm here, in front of two of the biggest Mobian icons... I just hope i find Zero soon. I want to see him again so bad.."

"I don't think he will be seeing anyone from the outside world for a long time". Rogue looks at Sonic unsure if she should tell

Sonic takes a deep breath and looks at Kory.

"Zero was put under life sentence for his crimes, Kory.. We had to put death out of the table because, honestly, we felt like it was the best."

Kory feels disappointed in herself once again.
"It's okay.. I think i'll just leave."


It took a while but Kory was finally freed from the hospital, and can now live her normal life. Some buildings from the city felt more quiet after that whole crazy war, which just made her feel somewhere else. And while all of that, she kept dreaming about the day she would finally be able to see Zero again.

Zero has been in prison for many years until he is able to get visitor privileges. Prison life hasn't been pleasant but deep down he knows he deserves it.

Three years in total, and still counting. It felt like eternity but it was finally time for him to get some visitors alongside the other prisoners who hated him aggressively. Getting to the tables, he could see the person on the other side of the glass window holding the telephone communicator.

Kory looked different this time. She had long braided hair, slightly longer horns and she was wearing a beautiful lapis choker. She smiled calmly from seeing him after so long.

"Hey Ze.. How you doin?"

Zero is looking tired from the hard prison life. His hair is shorter, and he is wearing prison clothes. One the brightside it was clear he has been eating as he is no longer severely skinny.  He smiles in what must have been years seeing her. "Hello Kor. It's been too long".

"Ah know right! I missed you a lot!! Been savin' up so ah could visit you more and all."

She smiled joyfully.

"I'd like that. You look different..How's the outside world"? He glances away not seeing the Sky or grass for three years.

"Been retaikin' its normal shape. If ya could go outside, you'd see that it's almost back to normal. Population has been growing bigger and bigger each time i see it and uh.. I think that's because of the rabbits."

She laughed.

He let's out a genuine laugh. "Must be evolution.. Last time we spoke was back in the Ark". He looks back at Kory. "What have you been up to since then"?

"Workin'. Jewels comin' in like rain boy. Finally gettin' some more money for mah stuff and ah finally got my Ac. Ah know that you're in for life but.. If ah could, i'd pay you out of this place and we would see the world together."

Her ears got down as she smiled and slightly blushed.

"If only things were that simple.
Kory I think the best thing for you is to forget about me. You have a good life and a good job,Enjoy it. This is my life now"'. He waves a hand around as best as he can since it's cuffed.
